Dinghy Instructor
Love sailing? Become an RYA Dinghy Instructor and start a career inspiring and teaching the next generation of sailors. This is a 5-day course in which you will learn teaching methods, presentation skills and practice effective communication styles.
Duration: 5 days.
Pre-course requirements:
- Pre-entry skills assessment, to be completed within 1-year before the instructor course.
- A valid First Aid certificate.
- RYA Powerboat level 2 certificate.
- RYA Safe and Fun certificate.

Assistant Dinghy Instructor
The RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor course is aimed at people looking to start the Dinghy Instructor pathway but either do not yet have the required pre-requisites or are not yet of age. In order to qualify for this course, you should have passed at least one of the advanced modules and should have spoken to our sailing manager.
Following the course, you will be qualified to assist on courses up to Stage 3 and Level 2. You will also be taught about the centre specific safe operating procedures. Unlike most of the RYA awards, this award is specific to the training centre it is passed at.
- Duration: 3 days
- Pre-course requirements: At least one of the advanced modules and should have spoken to our sailing manager minimum age of 14.
